Part 1 Basic flight availability

Now shown is an entry to display
neutral availability. The purpose of this entry is to display neutral
availability for a given city pair on a specified date, starting at a specified
time.
The entry consists of the
transaction code "AN" for "availability neutral", followed
by the departure date, the city pair and the departure time.
In application, the entry shown
above would display neutral availability from DEL to KTM on 1 July starting at
12.00.
Remember that time can be entered in
24-hour or 12-hour format.
The system default settings for availability displays are the same as for timetables. If you leave out the date, the system will default to today's date. If you leave out the time, the system will default to midnight, unless you are displaying availability for today. When you display availability for today, the time defaults to the current time, so that flights that have already departed will not be shown. You will rarely display availability for today, so it is only important to remember that when no time is specified, the system will display flights starting around midnight, which means all flights for the day will be listed.
Neutral availability displays, like neutral timetables, will actually show flights starting up to an hour before the time you specify.
Part 2 Availability from a timetable
TRANS CODE |
DISPLAY TYPE |
TC |
AN |
Shown above is an entry used to
generate a neutral availability display from an existing timetable.
The entry consists of the
transaction code "TC" for "timetable change", followed by
the letters "AN" for "availability neutral". You used the
"TC" transaction code earlier in the lesson to obtain return timetables.
In application, the entry shown
above would create a neutral availability display using the city pair, starting
date and time from the current timetable.
Part 3 Schedule displays

Now shown is the entry for
displaying a basic flight schedule, also known as a neutral schedule.
The purpose of this entry is to check flights between two cities on the
specified date at the specified time.
Note that this entry is just like
the entry to retrieve a neutral availability display. The only difference is
the transaction code. The transaction code to display neutral availability is AN,
whereas the one to display a neutral schedule is SN instead.
In application, the entry shown
above would display a neutral flight schedule from KTM to DOH on 1 July starting at 14.00
The default settings are the same
for schedule displays as they are for availability displays:
- If you leave out the departure date (e.g. SNKTMDOH2P),
the system defaults to today's date
- If the time is omitted (e.g. SN1JULKTMDOH), the system
defaults to midnight
- If you leave out both the date and the time
(e.g. SNKTMDOH), the system will show flights starting today at the
current time
Part 4 Flight information
TRANS CODE |
LINE NUMBER |
DO |

Shown above is an entry to obtain
operational information for a flight in an availability/schedule display, or a
PNR. Operational information includes meal service, flight times, layover
times, in-flight entertainment, specific terminals used by the flight, etc. The
amount of information displayed depends on how much the airline has provided to
Amadeus.
The entry begins with the
transaction code "DO" (which can be remembered as standing for
"Display Operational"), followed by an availability or PNR line
number.
In application, the entry shown
above would display the most current operational information for a flight that
is on line 6 of an availability display or PNR
TRANS CODE |
AIRLINE CODE |
FLIGHT NUMBER |
OBLIQUE |

DO |
KL |

It is also possible to display operational
information by referencing the flight number and date.
The entry to do this is the
"DO" transaction code, followed by an airline code and flight number,
an oblique, and a date.
In application, the entry shown
above would display the latest information stored in Amadeus about the
operation of KL641, travelling on 17 September
Part 5 Return travel
TRANS CODE |
LETTER "R" |
DATE |
TIME |
AC |
R |
18MAY |
1000 |
Shown above is an entry used to
display return availability. The purpose of this entry is to display inbound
flight availability by reversing the city pair order of an existing
availability display.
The entry consists of the
transaction code "AC" for "availability change", followed
by the letter "R" for "return", and the requested departure
date and time.
In application, the entry shown
above would reverse the city pair in the existing availability display and
generate a new display of flights departing on 18 May starting at 10.00.
This entry is very similar to the entry you saw earlier to request a return timetable. Both use a display "change" transaction code followed by the letter "R" for "return", and the new information.
The default settings are also the same. If you omit the date from this entry, the system uses the date from the existing availability display. If you omit the time, the system uses midnight. If the date and the time are omitted, the system uses the date from the existing display and 18.00 as the time.
Part 6 Availability change entries
TRANS CODE |
NEW INFORMATION |
AC |
19MAY |
Shown above is a typical entry used
to change an availability display.
You already know the transaction
code in this entry; it is the "AC" (Availability Change) code used in
the return availability entry. Following the "AC" transaction code is
the new information, in this example a date.
In application, the entry shown
above would change an existing availability display to show flights for May 19.
This type of entry can save you time
when you need to modify a display, in that it prevents you from having to
re-enter an entire availability entry.
The "AC" entry can be used
to change an existing availability display in numerous ways. For example, some
of the things you can change include:
- date
- time
- display type
- airline
Entry |
Purpose |
AC19MAY |
Change the date of an existing availability
display to 19 May |
AC4 |
Change the date to 4 days in the

AC-2 |
Change the date to 2 days in the

AC1800 |
Change the time of an existing
display to 1800 |
AC/ASQ |
Change to list flights for airline
SQ only |
ACMIA |
Change the origin airport of an
existing availability display to MIA |
AC//HEL |
Change the destination airport to

ACMIAHEL |
Change the city pair to MIAHEL |
·
When you make one of these entries,
only the information specified will change; all other display attributes remain
unchanged.
